Jacob's Second Christmas

Jacob was excited to open gifts for about an hour and a half then he just wanted to play. So we took a break until he went back over to the tree and open the rest of them.

On Top Of The World

Jacob climbed to the top all by himself, after watching the boy on his right do it once before.

At the Zoo

Every first Wednesday of the month, the San Francisco Zoo is free. So after an annoying morning of interviews and losing my cell phone, we went up to the city. It was a cool and foggy day. Jacob was excited to see the giraffes, the ducks in the petting zoo and was speechless when he rode the train for the first time. He didn't want to sit on mommy's lap, he wanted to sit in the seat and after going around the park and waving to the people twice he wasn't very happy to get off.

Happy Halloween

Since Jacob's isn't eating candy yet and we aren't going to any parties, I bought him an Elmo balloon. He's very happy with it. We went to a pseudo pumpkin patch this morning (it was in a lot next to the train tracks). Jacob picked out his first pumpkin then went to the park and showed his Yaya all his favorite things to do.

Attack of the Peas

After a challenging day where Jacob didn't want to do any of our regular Wednesday activities (musical storytime, the park) I tried to feed him dinner with an added something, mashed peas. He took one look at it and started saying NO NO. I tried to reason with him but after 20 minutes of screaming we settled on a banana. If this is a preview of what's to come, it should be very fun!

OHHHH..WHATSTHAT????

The title is one of Jacob's favorite sayings. I am working on colors with him and flowers are an easy way to show him. The flower woman at our local Whole Foods gave him this flower. And don't let the smile fool you this was minutes before a total toddler meltdown.

The Closer

This picture was taken a few days before Jacob started really opening doors himself..And not just doors that open out either. Hopefully his 11pm, 2am and 4am visits will be ending soon..but I have a feeling this is only the start of it.

And so it begins..

Just so happens I brought the camera to the park today and was able to capture Jacob's first attempt at climbing.

Labor Day In Half Moon Bay

Today we went to Half Moon Bay where Jacob saw and felt the ocean for the first time. He was very excited to experience the cold ocean water. He can say water but you have to listen closely because it sounds a lot like stroller and Lola (Charlie and Lola show). It was one of the first time he was not be tenative about something new. I think he might become a surfer.

Beep Beep!

Jacob got a ride on car yesterday. Mom and Dad spent an hour putting it together (not looking forward to more assembly at Christmas) He got up this morning and spent lots of time in it. He drives backwards quite well, but we will need to work on the forward pedaling.

Chillin' Out

Finally!! He started wearing a hat!

Chunky Monkey

Jacob went for his 18 month check-up yesterday. He didn't like the nurses assistants in Salt Lake and he doesn't like the ones here either. Lots of screaming and not wanting to go on the scale or be measured laying down. I think he remembers they are the ones who give him the shots! He's grown a little but the big news he is 21 pounds 14 oz, on July 9th he was 19 pounds 14 oz. 2 pounds in a month in a half is awesome, the doctor was very impressed. For the first time I had a doctor tell me Jacob was thriving.

Picky Picky Eater!

Mealtime for Jacob is getting to be quite a challenge. One day he eats everything I put in front of him, the next it's nothing but bananas. Mommy's banana oatmeal is a hit most of the time for breakfast but sometimes it's dry puff cereal or waffles or whole bananas or just milk. Jacob still doesn't like chunky food and new foods aren't received very well. This behavior is foreign to me and his Yaya since all Lavrakas' eat whatever is in front of them. Sooo..the solution is having many options available and try sneaking in as many veggies as possible! Jacob is also teething like crazy, he up to 8 teeth and 2 molars are working their way through. Poor guy!

All Park All the Time

Jacob is crazy about the park and it's been great to see him build confidence with new things..like the swings and also master this thing called walking. He's social with other kids sometimes but most of the time he just likes to play with his mom and hang out in the sand. He's adding new words to his vocab such as train which is sometimes choo-choo, keys, car, cookie, juice, shoe, and adding more daily. He can point to and name some parts of his body, eyes, ears, mouth and belly button. He kisses his dad goodbye in the morning and when Dad gets home he tells him all about his day.
